Bananamania combo strike for Berlin Fashion Week this Wednesday:
First comes an exhibition at Ninety-Five which displays a redux of the show exhibited at ROUGE58 during last NY Fashion Week, “Peel Slowly and See”, featuring the video installation “Peel Slowly” starring Tanja Siren, two very limited edition t-shirts designed by MyFriendFromBerlin (including a brand new Berlin Edition), a polaroid action and lots of Wasted German Beer. And following right after, the mandatory hedonistic, full-on-excess after party at Berlin’s infamous fashionista vortex King Size, featuring Los Massieras (DJ set), Tobias Keeler & very special guests from Ghent DOWN+OUT (No Way Back).
In the meanwhile, warm up and get ready listening to this sensual new guest mix from Bananamania Bro DJ Marvin Carl (Kong/ Tell Your Taxidriver, Munich). It’s tropical like Berlin newly acquired weather tendencies, it’s hot, it’s the Tukan Mix!
Milo Smee is one of our personal heroes. Solo sonic explorer as Binary Chaffinch (AKA Kruton) on beyond-cool, limited edition label -now defunkt- Dissident, founding member of 5 Mic Cluster , one of the most mysterious and interesting projects to be released in Trevor Jackson’s visionary cultish imprint Output Records, and also kickstarter of one of the freakiest bands the world has ever seen (ie mutant disco-doom outfit Chrome Hoof) but overall, nicest chap you can possibly find in Berlin and London altogether (you have 50/50 chances of meeting him in both Germania’s and thee UK capitals alike), Milo pleasantly surprised us once again with his appropriately dubbed Fast Mix. Not quite balearic, mind you.

This Saturday, Speculator-Taurus & Capablanca-Sphynx will bring their disco infected, mutant house and dose of weird dance tracks, hypnoloops and siren chants to Le Zoo de Paris of Mythoilogical Creatures, also known as Thee Anteros & Thanaton Show at Chez Moune, Paris.
Such sounds will merge with A&T pleasure bubbles for an ultimate sensorial experience composed partly of heels, hidden smokes and loud noises. El Especulador delighted us recently with a stronger than usual radio waves emission on WTBS and we couldn´t help but adding it to our archives in hope of expanding it into infinitum. We call it Co(s)mic (S)Trip, or a serious candidate to the Psychedelic Comedy Club:
We are pleased to announce the Bananamania T-Shirt Design Contest Winner: Matthias Netzberger, AKA MyFriendFromBerlin – Producer of Handsome Media with a smile, and Art Director for among others, Get Physical & Porsche.
T-Shirts will be showcased at the BANANAMANIA! SHOW x NY FASHION WEEK, at ROUGE58, 555 Metropolitan Ave. Brooklyn NY, opening today from 19h. The show will feature the limited hand-silkscreened t-shirt, the Capablanca nailpolish for Uslu Airlines, the premiere of “Peel Slowly and See” – a video installation featuring Tanja Siren, and site specific installations. Oh, and DISCO.
Afterparty is happening from 22ish on at Submercer, 147 1/2 Mercer Street New York, NY. We would love to see you there.
Special mention goes to the El Radioactivo banana t-shirt by Joan Bernat, which we dare to keep top secret, and surely deserves a prize of its own. We are working on that. Thanks to all participants, it has been a lovely process to go through all your designs and a hard choice to decide on just one. We love you.
