Mixtape #009: Capablanca

Download mp3: Mixtape #009 by Capablanca

May 1st always means madness in Berlin, but Bananamania is upping the crazy quotient with PSYCHE OUT! J.G Wilkes, half of Optimo who just ended their 13-year weekly run in Glasgow, will visit Berlin for an eclectic, eccentric set of disco weirdness. Chicago madman Traxx, who’s carried the Chicago house torch from the mid 90s into today (and who released his debut solo album Faith last year on his own label Nation), will not just DJ, but present an ultra-rare LIVE performance with vocalist Eric D. Clark as Mutant Beat Dance, known for their 2009 Discos Capablanca hit In a Daze. Expect to hear new material too, from their upcoming release on Beats In Space Records. Local support comes from Capablanca who offers this week’s Bananamania mixtape, as well as Italo duo Discodromo and Joey Hansom. This all happens at the expansive, mirror- and neon-filled retro space .HBC.

Capablanca’s mixtape, titled Berlin Blues (Psychic) with notable hallucinogenic properties, was originally featured on the Radio Bermuda. If you like what you hear, check them out for more excellent mixes from a wide array of tastemakers.
